Holiday scents Bayberry and Frankincense candles on sale

Posted by

This month we have two of our most popular holiday scented candles on sale. The first is our Bayberry scented candles. The scent of Bayberry goes bank to colonial time when the colonial women would boil the bayberries which would release a sweet smelling wax.  It was very time consuming and it would take approximately 15 pounds of bayberry berries to make just 1 pound of bayberry wax. So this precious commodity would be save for special occasions such as the holidays or for gifting.

The legend went on that a gift of a bayberry candle would bring good luck and good fortune to those that receive it.

In colonial folklore, sweethearts who were not able to be together at Christmas, would light a Bayberry Candle to be reunited by the candle's pleasant aroma.

While Gellite Candles version of a bayberry candle doesn't actually have bayberry wax in it, we have found a fantastic version of this wonderful scent. Many of our customers have said that it takes them back to their childhood and the aromas of holidays past.

Our second scent, while being a holiday scent is sold throughout the year. It is our Frankincense. Frankincense was one of the gifts from the Three Kings and has been for thousands of years, it has been thought to have medicinal uses including antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Additionally, the Hebrew Bible, records that both frankincense and myrrh were components of the holy incense burned in Jerusalem’s sacred temples during ancient times. Large amounts of the Frankincense resins were imported by both the ancient Greeks and Romans. They burned this resin as incense for cremations and took for a wide variety of ailments.

Our Frankincense is a deep, wonderfully earthy aroma that that our customers rave about. Some of them have told us that they burn the candles before bedtime to help promote a good nights sleep. Others have told us that they will burn their Frankincense candles to help with their anxiety, bronchitis and stress issues. While we don't make any medical claims for our candles, it truly is one of our most pleasant scents.
